Awards and Honors
Crystal Mackall, M.D., has been selected to co-lead a Stand Up To Cancer-St. Baldricks Pediatric Cancer Dream Team. The project is titled Immunogenomics to Create New Therapies for High-Risk Childhood Cancers and will unite researchers in genomics and immunotherapeutics with the goal of establishing the foundation for a sustained effort to maximize pediatric cancer cure rates through a genomics-anchored immunotherapeutic program.
Louis M. Staudt, M.D., Ph.D., has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences.
Robert Yarchoan, M.D., will receive an honorary degree from Amherst College on May 26.
Anu Puri, Ph.D., received a grant through the Intramural-to-India initiative for her project titled, Develop Novel targeted nano-therapeutics against HIV-1.
The Biomedical Sciences Program at the Frederick County Career and Technology Center received an Award of Excellence from the Maryland State Department of Education. Many students in the program participate in internships with the NCI labs at Frederick.
